2026 Lexus ES Hybrid and EV Powertrains 

One of the biggest differences between the 2025 Lexus ES vs. 2026 Lexus ES is its available powertrains. 

The previous generation of ES was available in gas-powered and hybrid versions, but the all-new Lexus ES drops its gas engine option in favor of an upgraded hybrid system and two available battery-electric platforms. 

That’s right, the ES is going all-electric for the first time. 

• The 2026 Lexus ES 350h is the new hybrid electric version, promising enhanced performance over the outgoing version thanks to its sixth-gen, 2.5-liter hybrid system. It’s slated to have a total output of 243 horsepower, and it’ll be available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. 

• The 2026 Lexus ES 350e is the base-level all-electric option. It has a single electric motor and is only available with front-wheel drive, but it boasts an estimated range of up to 300 miles on a single charge. 

• The 2026 Lexus ES 500e comes equipped with dual electric motors and standard DIRECT4 all-wheel drive. It has a projected range of around 250 miles, and like the 350e, it’s capable of charging from 10% to 80% in just half an hour. It’s also the quickest ES model, with an estimated 0 to 60 time of 5.4 seconds.

2026 Lexus ES Exterior 

Right away, Lexus fans will notice that the ES has gotten a massive upgrade in the looks department. This is partially due to the utilization of the TNGA GA-K platform, which was designed specifically to accommodate vehicles with both hybrid and battery electric powertrains. 

Every facet of the vehicle has been reworked. The front end features dramatic Twin L-Signature headlights and solid body-color molding, with unique fascia treatments for the hybrid and electric models to help them stand out. From the side profile, you’ll instantly notice the new swooping L-shaped body line that runs down from the side mirror and back to the rear wheels, giving the impression of movement even at a standstill. At the rear, it tapers into a sporty profile that is both stylish and improves aerodynamics. 

2026 Lexus ES Interior 

Because it benefits from a completely new platform, the ES is now over half a foot longer, which translates to a more spacious and comfortable interior. Seats have also been slightly raised compared to the outgoing model to make it easier to get in and out. 

The interior is characterized by simple, clean lines and elegant trim elements, like 3D-printed bamboo details and synthetic leather embossing. Front and center, we find a massive 14-inch touchscreen that houses the latest version of the Lexus Interface system with native Voice Assistant, native navigation, and wireless Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto™. Other available features include a unique 12.3-inch multi-info display and a Mark Levinson® Surround Sound System.
