2024 Lexus RX: The Original Keeps Getting Better
Nowadays, midsize luxury crossovers are a dime a dozen—it’s among the most popular segments worldwide, and nearly every automaking brand has several in their fleet in any given year. It’s easy to see why they’re so sought after, too. They offer carlike drivability that just about anyone can get used to while providing the extra interior space and versatility many sedans lack.
So, with seemingly countless options, how is one supposed to pick the best luxury crossover SUV?
Why not go with the original? Some people don’t realize it, but the Lexus RX is the one that started it all; to this day, Lexus is widely credited as the original luxury crossover. 2024 Lexus RX Powertrains and Fuel Economy
Base, Premium, Premium+, and Luxury grades are all available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive, and they’re all available with a hybrid engine option, which is denoted by the “h” in the model name.
The standard gas engine in the RX 350 is a 2.4-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder, which puts out 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an 8-speed transmission and achieves a solid 29 miles to the gallon on the highway.
For the eco-conscious, the RX 350h houses a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with a hybrid electric drive, which creates 246 net horsepower and 233 pound-feet of torque. All hybrid models are paired with all-wheel drive, and they get an impressive 37 MPG in the city and 34 on the open road.
If you have a need for speed, the RX 500h features a modified turbo hybrid engine, which is married to a six-speed gearbox, creating a total of 366 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. It has an 80-kilowatt eAxle at the rear, which delivers lightning-quick acceleration, while the Lexus DIRECT4 system routes power to all four wheels for unparalleled handling and grip. Available upgrades for even better performance include Adaptive Variable Suspension and Dynamic Rear Steering.
Brand new for 2024, we have the plug-in hybrid Lexus RX 450h+. The high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack allows it to drive an estimated 37 miles purely on electric power without touching a single bit of gas, giving it a rating of 83 MPGe. With the right equipment and 240-volt charging, it’s able to recoup its full battery life in just two and a half hours, making it among the most fuel-efficient luxury SUVs in the history of the Lexus RX.
2024 Lexus RX Exterior and Interior Colors
Depending on the trim, there are ten available exterior paints for the 2024 RX: Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica, Nori Green Pearl, Copper Crest, Grecian Water, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Caviar, Eminent White Pearl, and Ultra White.
The six available interior colors include Palomino, Macadamia, Peppercorn, Birch, Black, and Rioja Red. Additionally, there are four ornamentation styles: Black Open Pore, Black Cascade, Dark Graphite Aluminum, and Ash Bamboo.

2024 Lexus RX Infotainment and Safety Features
The minds behind the machine were very intentional about designing the 2024 RX with a driver-focused cockpit. Entertainment features are paired with a Lexus Premium Sound System as standard, with an optional upgrade to the almighty Mark Levinson 21-speaker PurePlay Surround Sound package. To top it off, many features like wireless charging, Panoramic View Monitor, and Advanced Park with Remote Park have been made available across a wider range of trims compared to the 2023 model.
